Life is calling............where are YOU??

This is the refrain reverberating on everybody's lips these days. Some make it overt like the people behind the Smirnoff advertising campaign and some guys like us say "We're busy" or have fingers pointed at us "He's a workaholic". We work work and work believing that we are gaining work experience and then dream how cherished our CV will look while applying to the next available vacancy! There does not seem to be any personal goals that we are trying to achieve just working like zombies and expecting our salaries to be hiked in the same proportion. And then we proudly say Im so and so at so and so company and flash out our swanky business cards to prove the point. But dont we ever realise that all this will not lead to anywhere. We are living to survive and not living to thrive! We are ageing at an alarming rate and growing tyres around our tummies proportionately. We have turned into modern mechanics and common clerks and in the process completely destroyed the enterpreneurship and creativity that had been our backbone in school and college and was a living example of our individuality.
 
The caveat is clear enough in the words of John Mason "You were born an original, dont die a copy". One of my friends quips in her blog "Why do I never get to realize how a day goes by? Before the fervor of the day sinks in, it’s already midnight."
 
We need to bite the bullet soon or we shall sink forever in the sea of mechanics and clerks! The choice is clear but its time to make it happen. Now is that moment to take the plunge. It really does not matter how old we are or what disabilities we suffer from. What really matters is the will to succeed and the courage to keep floating in front all adversities. This is not an alien thought. Its there within us, we just need to look deeper in. If you still cant find it just go to your roots, your basis, whatever you may consider and you'll surely find it there. For me the inspiration comes from the basis of my education - my school motto : "Courage is Destiny". Standing at the doorstep of a brand new year come lets change the refrain to "Life is calling and here we come"

Food hygiene in India remains a major concern. When I was growing up there was a belief that street food is unhealthy and should be avoided. Packaged food was preferred since it was supposed to be tested as per existing law and a general belief that large companies would not take a chance with their products or their reputation. This belief literally went for a toss once the Maggi controversy surfaced. The incident revealed a can worms and opened up a Pandora's box. It not only appears that the laws were not in place to adequately address such issues but there was sufficient lax in implementation of the existing laws.
